Day 11

It was 31st of May...

this was the last day of us in Taiwan...
seem like a bit of hesitating to go back to Malaysia o...

Before we went to the airport, we even received breakfast from CYCU lecturers.. so warming and friendly...

At the airport, we stayed for quite long at here...
and, we kept on taking photos....lol
Of course, we found something to buy as well...^^

Then, we went inside airplane... and, waited for our landing to Malaysia...

From this trip, i really learnt a lot of things... And, such kind of friendliness of taiwan friends is really so touching and warming... i admitted me, myself can't even pay so much like them... lol

And, hopefully, when they came to Malaysia, they may received the same treatment in here... lol

It really worth to be there as it can widen my perspective and seeing diferrent culture from there...

And of course, their attitude towards learning and co-operation in learning is a nice thing to mention too...

All in all, besides architectural, i think the most vital thing i learnt is the attitude towards their lives, which play a role in inculcating good future...

Day 10

It was 30th of May

hmm... as we planned yesterday, today's destination is to 淡水///

In today, there were just half of us to there... and, Mr. teoh was not followed us... haha

On the way to 淡水, we snap some photos...

After reaching, we needed to pass through the old streeet...
along that road, there are many shops selling wet and dry foods... almost like a market in here... but some items like joysticks are sold at there too( very weird...lol)

here we were...淡水龙山寺

As you can see, the use of modern construction to shade the whole old roof with new one... and, you can see skylight is used for the contemporary roof

Then, we went to somewhere else... And, along the road, we took some pictures...
This is the famous 'steel egg'... that we bought quite many from here... lol

This is the 淡水礼拜堂...
and, some people took wedding photos at here...

the funny staircase finishes...
Later, went to the harbour...

Then, we went to the 红毛城...

'Ah hiao' ...lol
this is the building inside the castle...

Big 'shoes'???

After that, we went to eat 阿给... lol
And, it's time to go back...

During nite, we had dinner with CYCU students... almost like farewell party...lol
and, at the same time, thx them for allocating time for accompanying us to many places...

If you think this is the end of this day, then you are wrong...
we even went to the pub... and end up went back at 2am... lol
with 2 'mabuk' people... haha

Day 9

It was 29th of May

Today's destinatioon is to 淡水

but it's was another raining time for today.... haizz

Thus, we had changed our destination to taipei...

Firstly, we ate our breakfast at burger shop... lol... and below were the pics taken from there...

Later, we went to 台北国立大学...

In there, we had no people to describe about the school so we just took a few snaps only and looked around ... haha

Inside the museum of the university...

Then, we went to 西门町...
The first moment i step in here, i felt like a bit similar to bugis in Singapore, which is full of youngters and many things to sell...

In here, we not even know where should we went... and, we just loffing around...

and, we went to the japanese shop that sell all same price items...
At here, i have some souveniers for my friends... and, i also went to 夹娃娃... haha

In overall, we had not taken many pics as we were busy with finding interesting things to do and played with... ^^

After that, we went back to 中坜 lu...

Day 8

It was 28th of May

Basically, today we don't really have any activities...

From morning until noon, we stay at CYCU to listen to the final year's students final crit...

Here are some pictures taken during the crit...

I think this presentator not bad as she can defend her design all the time and she is quite confident with herself...
her work...

The model that show the before(on top) and after ( bottom) situation...
I like the form of this design... but somehow, i think he cant defend himself of the design... lol

Later, we went to look around the campus...

This is the scale 1:1 model done by the students at the time the great architect from europe (if not mistaken) came to have a teaching camp there...

After that, we had lunch in CYCU and Mr. teoh treated us...^^

During dinner time, we went to buffet restaurant together with the 中坜 headmaster and lecturers, and students from 天津...

And, the sweat things happened where they played 交杯酒。。。 lol

After dinner, it's working time!!!

We had to present to the students and lecturer on what we found in Taiwan... By using MANDARIN... And, at that moment only made me realise that how poor is my mandarin vocabulary.... haha...

Day 7

It was 27th of May

In the early morning, we went to 孔庙...

this is the entrance of the confucious temple...
Before entering the temple, it's said that for those who riding horse, no matter what status is, they must take off from the horse first at the place as below picture show to show respect...

these kind of free standing structures represent different ceremony...

Pagoda???

And, we could see the treatment to SAVE the tree also...

Along with the wish by people....^^

This is the entrance that connect to the primary school...
this is the 忠义国小武德殿

it is built by japanase and the purpose is to affect the mind of taiwan people so that they will respect and admre japan... and of course, be loyal to them!!!

And, this is a part of the school which become an open space that let the outsiders to use the field for exercise as welll...

Next, we went to the restoration site of 爱国妇人馆...

at here, there were an engineer vit an architects that explained to us about the restoration process... and, of course, the importance of it...

At this moment, i suddenly thought of PUDU JAIL!!! Even this building they also try to restore but pudu jail already exist for so long and become one part of our lives already... It's really a sadness to tear down the heritage building and destroy our own identity...

before they restored the building, they will try to investigate the materials and construction used in the building first and not just rebuild a new thing that resemble the old building... they even tried to identify the existing columns and try to restore back to the original look...

they tried to destroy a bit of the wall surface to identify the coating of the wall...

If i'm not mistaken, they try to resemble the texture of this column because they cant find tis type of wood that suit the size of the original column...

This part of wall is exposed to let the visitiors to know the materials of the wall so that they will have a clearer mind...

On our way, we passed through this fire station building... It will be restored in future time as well...

This is the 台湾文学馆... It has been restored before and reopen as an visitors' landmark...
From this picture, we can see that the building has been extended as the original size is not big enough...

From this pictue itself, you can see that the interior part of it should used to be the exterior part of the building, with the gutter systemas well...

The gallery inside...

an individual booth...

Then, we went to the 气象台...
This building also be estored before by the CYCU lecturer o... lol

Interior of it... This is the place to display the research about the restoration of this building...

This is the bank that we saw on our way... It is built by the japanses as well...
Though it is full of western style and with big scale, it still has some chinese style of detailing...

Later, after eating 'ice kacang', we went back by 快铁, which was much more faster than the time when we came to tainan...
And, one thing very special is that, the chairs inside the train can be rotated to suit the needs of the train of coming n going back from 2 different directions...

During nite time, we help the students to do their submission for presentation on the next day until 11pm...It's quite fun as seniors and juniors work together and helping each other when facing any problems... And, i think this is a good thing as the seniors will be trained to managed a team and the juniors can also learn things and amass knowledge from their seniors as well...
